Based on the reports we found, there's no prize money given at the Red Bull Air Race; most pilots receive money from their sponsors. Common salary band for pilots is £40,000 to £70,000 a year. The winner gets a trophy and a medal respectively.
In an article from AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) published in 2010, American pilot Michael Goulian said that “There are some countries that don’t want us flying for money, and England was one of them. They said, ‘Hey, if there’s a lot of money for winning, or for being on the podium, they’re going to fly like crazy.”
