  • Probably somewhere up North with a small population and loose gun laws.

Houston was a shithole when I was there in the mid 90's. Can't imagine what it's like now.

      • If I didn't have to work, I'd chill and surf in Huntington Beach CA.

If I'm being more realistic, I'd live and work in either Torrance or Chino CA. They're wildly different, but Torrance is full of hot rod stuff and near the beach while Chino is the epicenter of the aircraft resto industry and I'd like to do that. It stinks of dairy cows though, and has a prison. Hmm.

I like the desert and a quiet lifestyle too, so I could do Santa Fe, NM or maybe Holbrook AZ. I'd like to be a national park tour guide someday.

If this was open to international locales, I'd like to own/operate a hotel on the beach in Tulum, MX.

        • Austin: Love the feel, hate the traffic.

Boulder: Mountains without being out in the wilderness.

Flagstaff: Just a really cool town, or it was 15 years ago when I was there.

San Diego: Loved visiting there, but I hear it's nicer to visit than to live.

Though I'm no kind of hippy myself, it seems I'm attracted to hippy-haven towns. I dunno.

Never thought about that, but it would be a sweet job!

Wouldn't mind that myself. Saw an awful lot of VERY cute women working the visitors centers in all those parks and monuments on that last trip. Target rich environment. I wish there was a nice big National Park within an hour or two of DFW. I think I'd be out there quite often.

My only complaint, if you can even call it that, is the lack of seasons. After a while you get used to and expect the mild climate. Spending Christmas in shorts was fun the first time, but after a while I got bored with "70* and sunny." It was quite nice to come home for a visit, and get the enjoy a good ol' North Texas Thunderstorm.

My dad does something similar, he's been a host at various campgrounds over the last few years. Not near as exciting as exciting as actually giving tours, but he gets paid to live in God's country a few months of the year.

Mind you, this is in retirement, the pay barely covers gas to get there and back. He lives in his 32' gooseneck trailer with pop-outs, so all the comforts of home, and only camps when he wants to.

Just saw a report that median rent in Manhattan is currently $3100. Median rent in San Francisco is currently $3400. Hell we couldn't go back if we wanted.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

That's why I can't move back, things have changed since the late 90's.
