Go live in your "paradise" for a while; not as a visitor, but like you live there.

Come back to this thread and refine your answer.

There will be a lot less California, Hawaii, PNW, etc. answers.

      Seb's high class.
      He'll mow your grass.
      He'll kick your ass.
And while his kidney stones pass,
      He'll piss in a glass!

Kind of a tough one. Grandparents still have a cabin in Creed, CO that I absolutely love. I have spent many summers up there over the years (born in CO Springs) and have seriously thought about making the move. But, the vast majority of my family lives here in Texas, within 3hrs of the metroplex, and I am very close to them.

My uncle has a place on the water in Pensacola that is relaxing, but I really don't know about actually living in Fla.

I suppose I am pretty happy here in Texas because family means the world to me.

I'm making my way to Sarasota Florida, I missed out on buying something cheap as the prices have started to rebound in the area that I want to be in. That part of the gulf is beautiful and I love me some salt water fishing in clean clear water. I have to be in the US and I've pretty much been to both coasts. SF is nice but the COL is crazy as is the upper east coast. I'm not into winter so year round nice weather works for me.
I'd like to live in Corpus just to stay in Texas, but I need a major metropolitan nearby...

I lived in San Diego for almost two years, and would move back given the right opportunity. I haven't lived in South Lake Tahoe, but I've visited often enough to get a realistic picture of what it would be like to permanently reside there. Both places would suit me just fine.

Honestly, as much as Texas is a part of me, the geography here in northern California suits me better, there's just something calming about cruising down the highway with the mountains always in the distance. Even the driving range that I frequent and the upper level cardio room at my gym have a nice view of the Sierra's. It was the same down in San Diego, though in a different way, with the hills one way, and the ocean the other.

                Welcome back btw.

Grand Forks made me get out of the Air Force. Did not like all the snow. Which made me realize I can live just about anywhere where its warm most of the year.

I love SA. I was there in 2010 for about six weeks. Had a great time. I could live there.

                    • I spend roughly 6mos each year traveling throughout the US. Been to every state (except HI), and this is a tough call.

Money no object? Boston or San Fran

Reasonable cost of living? Portland, Oregon, Colorado Springs, Pensacola area, or anywhere in New England would work.

Midwest with decent economy? Kansas City, OKC, Denver

I could rule out anything from Milwaukee to Chicago, over to Baltimore/DC and up to NYC. Just draw a rectangle and fuck every bit of living anywhere in it.

I can't get out of SF fast enough when I go there for business meetings, traffic and parking absolutely blow monkey nuts. I have a feeling I'd see NYC the same way, I just don't get why people would intentionally subject themselves to that.

                        • SF is a joke! i had to leave my hotel in Monterey @ 330a to get up to SFO for a 9a flight otherwise i would be subject to 3-4 hours in traffic. FUCK. THAT.

Had no idea so many people want to live in San Francisco. If anyone is ever serious, I'd be happy to talk about it. The cost of living is high. Rent is obviously the biggest factor, and real estate prices flow down through everything. If you're single then you're going to want to live in one of the happening neighborhoods and you'll pay for it. If you're attached, then looking at 2 BR in decent/good areas obviously gets much more expensive. Don't even get me started on daycare ... you'll need to earn $100k a year to cover ONLY 2 bills - rent and daycare.

Like I said, my offer extends to anyone seriously considering there, I'd be happy to talk about it. My wife still loves SF; I'll be happy with a visit every 2 - 3 years.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
