When I rassled, head gear was enough for them to smack us around pretty good. I remember one time going on mat dizzy cause a coach hit me pretty hard 3-4 times (across ears). It's on video (VHS) of me almost falling over after the 2nd hit.

It was motivational though, no intent to hurt or anything and we never thought anything differently. I was usually pissed off afterwards and would do pretty well after I regained balance.

One of our coach's favorite moves was to walk up behind us in the huddle (after a bad play) and box our ears (slap each ear-hole at the same time). It was counter-productive because we couldn't hear shit for the next 3 plays. LOL!

I got kicked out of DISD for just the opposite when I was a Sophomore....history teacher (who was also football coach) shoved me as I was trying to exit his classroom, and I came back with a right-hook to the jaw that put him on the floor. He never expected it....but in after-thought neither did I....it was instinct I suppose. That piece of shit picked on me constantly b/c I wouldn't play on his team....I couldn't though, was on work release b/c I had to help put food on the table.

This pussification in our society is a bunch of crap IMO, but I definitely also don't agree with these teachers who let their authority go to their head so much that they become nothing but a paid bully. Probably a lot more to this story tho.....
