Ours stays pretty clean. Worst thing is mail clutter that I go through every Friday or so.

Paying a maid to come every other week to clean is the best money I have ever invested. I still vacuum at least twice a week, and shampoo the carpets once a month. If guest come over, you can be DAMN sure the house is spotless.

My house is immaculate 99% of the time, as well as organized and would be ready to be seen by buyers if I was selling. lol . I might have some mail laying on my kitchen counter, or some dog hair on the floor I haven't vacuumed yet, but that's it. I can't stand disorganization. If I'm having people over, usually all I have to do is dust and run the vacuum. I didn't work my ass off to live in a shithole. The exception is probably my shower. I could do a better job with it, but it isn't in great shape and guests aren't using it anyway, so I let it be.

Other people, depends on a variety of factors, the biggest one being if they have kids. I guess I don't understand why people wouldn't take the ten minutes a day it takes to keep an average sized house clean and just do it. It's such a better quality of life. It drives my OCD insane to see clutter. It isn't due to my upbringing either, I always had the cleanest room of my siblings(and my parents didn't have to ask, I just kept it that way). One of my sisters home looks like she could be on Hoarders, (literally, there are walkways through each room, lined with junk, and it has been this way for a decade)and I don't go over there unless it's going to be a 10 minute visit to pick something up. I don't know how people live that way.

I think this is what pisses me off the most. Coming home after being gone for 3 months and I have to hire someone to come clean or spend my time getting things the way I want it. It is a feat in body language control to not explode when I walk in the door after being away for 3+ months.

I am okay with the kid toys/mess, I am okay with the dogs toys but people mess drives me nuts.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I can't stand walking into peoples houses with pets and they don't take care of it...

One of our good friends have several cats, and they don't vacuum near enough.. I get disgusted anytime I have to go over there.

There is a long standing stereotype about men being messy and women being clean that needs to come to an end. Women are fucking nasty, and most of them are disorganized as hell. I can only imagine your situation, being gone in that hellhole so long to come home to a mess. You'd think she'd clean it up before you got there.

                    Word!

I have had probably 30 guys from this board over to my place on 4 different occasions. All the house cleaning is done by me. I am embarrassed when even the garage is out of line.

Hell, right now I am searching for carpet cleaner companies and a house cleaner to come in before we have a birthday party in a month.

I'm lucky there, I have hardwoods throughout, except for 1 bedroom that is closed off that I haven't gotten to yet and is just storage. And by storage, I mean it has 2 book cases and maybe 3 knickknacks in it, it isn't overflowing with boxes and shit. It does show the dog hair a little quicker, but it's also easier to clean, and she doesn't shed too much.

What does drive me crazy about peoples houses, is when they have a 2 car garage absolutely full of boxes of shit they haven't touched in decades and a 30k car sitting out in the North Texas weather getting sun damaged and beat up with hail. The last neighborhood I lived in it seemed like every house was that way. Only seen 1 or 2 like it since moving in here. People are crazy.

Me and the woman are both pretty OCD so it stays clean even with a two year old and a black lab. The real cleaning stuff doesn't get done enough (windows, dusting, base boards, etc) so I'm going to hire some help in the next month or two.

I keep my house pretty clean. Every 2 weeks I give it a good cleaning, especially if anyone is coming over I make sure it looks good.

According to the Kirby vacuum salesman, I have the cleanest house he has ever been in, I told him that apparently I don't need his vacuum then and thanks for the free shampooing.
