Slowhand, watch those Prairies. Make sure you refrigerate them for a good 24 hours before opening. I've seen a few that were literally bombs! It's a great brewery but they are pushing out so much product so fast that it's still fermenting in the bottles. Which is fine if you use bottles that can handle the pressure, unfortunately some of theirs can't.
Ran into that a while back, wound up hairline cracking the neck on one of their bombers.

                      • I can officially no longer fit anything else in my beer fridge. I've been a bit of a hoarder lately with harder to find releases and bombers. I'll buy one, two or three of something depending on what the limit is, drink one and save the rest. First world problems, I know.

For anyone in or around Arlington, the old homebrew shop, Dr. Jekyll's Beer Lab, has just recently opened their tap room/growler filling room with 40 taps. I have not been yet, but I've heard good things about the selection and price. This allows you to try several things that you can't buy in bottles or cans for various reasons, whether special/limited release, keg only, etc. I plan on checking it out this week.

                        • I feel your "pain". Somehow I've managed to end up with 5 growlers, 20 or so bombers and at least 4 cases of random singles. A lot of Rahr stuff obviously but there are plenty of DFH 120s, Avery Rumpkins, Brew Dog Tokios and several other hoarding beers.

As for the thread I went back to Pinthouse Pizza in Austin Friday night. There are plenty of places to go there with awesome beers obviously but Pinthouse to me seems a little more advanced than the other brewpubs. Seeing as how their head brewer used to be the brewer at Odell it's not surprising.

I'm a fan of barrel aged stuff, I mean who isn't? They have a couple of beers a little different though. Rum and tequila barrel aged! They obviously didn't sweat the barrels either, my wife had their "standard" black IPA and the Oso Tiburon (tequila aged Imperial Stout) and was pretty much wasted. That 10% abv must have been the base beer, it was probably closer to 20 after aging and was spectacular.

Care to trade one of those Rumpkins? The only thing I'm sitting on that you may not have tried or had access to would be an Oskar Blues/Sun King Chaka purchased June 2013 straight from the weasel. I've also got a few Pumpkinator's, but I imagine you do as well.

                              • My wife would kill me. About the only thing she'd go for is a swap for a Pumpkyn.
