I probably should have split this bottle with someone. It's a lot to take on in one session
    That's for damn sure.

Luckily I don't have anything to do today but catch up on Dexter and house shop online. I didn't realize it was a 12% until I was already into it. Complex is a very good word for it.

Looking back I should have saved it for tomorrow. It would go great with that cold-as-shit weather blowing in.

It can be done, its just a little labor intensive and properly wrapping and shipping certainly adds to the cost. The better you package it the less chance of it coming back on you. You just don't tell them what's in the box. You can say "live yeast samples" and you won't necessarily be lying, but its best to wrap well and stay quiet.

Overnight UPS. Here's a package a friend sent me once:

        • Went down to Jester King on Saturday, finally got to try their RU55 and Ol Oi. Every beer they make is some variant on a farmhouse style and many are sours now. It's a very popular craft brewery and they are always trying to do some new stuff.

Since the Texas laws changed they actually sell every serving now instead of offering a tour and giving away samples. The only limit is your bank account. Basically you walk up to the bar, just like any other bar and open a tab. You get a little piece of paper with your account number and close out when you leave. You don't get a free glass to reuse but otherwise it works out well. They don't get anywhere near the crowds Rahr does but there was never a line more than 6-7 people deep.

Wait wut, the laws changed? Is that why Martinhouse will allow you to purchase additional beers after the three initial 3 are done.

Breweries can sell directly to consumers and brew pubs can self distribute in Texas now. Well I should say they can get a permit to do these things, assuming they want to and the TABC approves. There are limits as to how much they can sell themselves but really the TABC doesn't have the staffing to regulate it and honestly I don't think they ever will.

They are still responsible for making sure they aren't selling beer to anyone that's intoxicated though. After 3 Imperial Texans in two hours most people are going to know they've been drinking, some will be drunk. With 4-5 in your system you are legally drunk unless you are Andre the Giant.

My brother in law loves their stuff.

I dig the Happy Camper for sure. I also have a bias toward craft beers in cans. Solid choice.

Yes canned craft beer is awesome. Most all of my bottles get poured into a glass of some sort, but cans get drank straight up. I dig the malty/caramel ipas out of all of them

                        • What's left of my haul from Denver. Bought a lot more than this, but drank most of it, this is what made it back in my ski bag.

They're all sours, left-to-right: The Bruery Oude Tart, The Bruery Saison Rue, AC Golden (yes, as in Coors, and it's fucking good) Hidden Barrel Apricot, and two Batch 60s from Crooked Stave, who might be the best wild/sour/brett brewers in the country right now.

I still have half a growler of that java stout. To me it's more coffee than beer, I don't know their proportions but it's pretty hairy.

                              • Green Flash West Coast IPA has left a mark on my brain. I found a "hopefully" near spot on clone recipe and picked up all the ingredients from Stubby's last night so I can brew it Sunday.
