Crap. I've only got one Pumpkyn. Oh, well. I just need to try harder next year.

I'm hoping to score some BBA Legion this week. I'll miss out today's release at Lonestar.

    • Trying these two out tonight

Edit: Cheeky Monkey came out of the bottle overly carbonated, almost like it was on nitro but obviously it wasn't. flavor was meh anyways, so no real loss.

      • I rarely drink any more, but I keep beer in my fridge for guests. Picked up some Alaskan Winter and it's pretty decent. Made with real Spruce tips according to the bottle!

        • I picked up a 64 oz. Growler of Barrel Aged Winter Warmer for $11 at Whole Foods yesterday, which is extremely cheap. Was that the normal price, or did I benefit from a pricing error?

Rahr's? That's a pricing error. They probably keyed it in like regular Winter Warmer. I've never seen it for less than $29 and then it was part of a release party for the 10th anniversary beer.

Yep, it was Rahr, and I asked for barrel aged when I ordered, and verified again when she told me the total.

I picked up a four pack this weekend and it was really great. This beer serves up like maple syrup and has a decent bite at 10%.

                      • My favorite beer in the universe hit DFW stores late last week, keep your eyes peeled for Avery Mephistopheles. Total Wine in Fort Worth had about 8 left on Saturday for $7.99 each. It's an Imperial Stout but comes in at 17.2% this year. I can't describe it accurately at all since there are so many different layers of flavor but they are all great.

It only comes around once a year and it's the king of their Beast series. For me it's literally a life changing beer. Before trying it I'd head to the saucer every once in a while but it'd be for a pint of Guinness or maybe a Dead Guy Ale. I was more of a Bud Light/Shiner person. I don't think I've had a Budweiser or Bud Light since and that was in 2010.

                        • I've missed out on Mephistopheles two years straight, but scored two bottles on the way home tonight. Grabbed a couple quarts of Lagunitas Sucks as well.

What? Avery distributing something good down here and not just their volume bullshit? Color me surprised, I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Tweaked, Rumpkin, Pumpkyn, the Beast, Uncle Jacob's Stout and 5 Monks all made it to DFW this year. A lot of Rumpkin! I saw it on tap at least 3 times. I didn't see any Samaels though.
