  • Beerfeast at the FW Saucer was awesome this year. You could buy additional sample cards and they worked for anything on the tap wall as well as the tents outside.

The highlight for me was Odells Dr. Acula. It was like a more sour version of Black Crack. Freakin awesome beer. They of course had DFH 120 as well as Avery's Rumpkin and a surprise for me was Real Ale's Imperium.

The Lake Saucer's beerfeast is next Saturday. http://www.beerfeast2014.com/

    • I need a recommendation. I'm headed to FoCo in a couple weeks, and as usual with a hike or two there will be many brewery visits and flights.

Odell recently released a 180 Shilling - basically an oak-aged double 90 shilling in a corked 750ml bottle.
It will no doubt be nowhere to be found in a few weeks so a friend is sitting on some for me until I get there.

What TX offering would you take in trade?

If you can find it, take him a bomber of St. Arnold Pumpkinator. It's amazing.

Total Wine in FW has that on the shelf, no need to trade. Well they did as of Saturday at 9:00 and had several. Now Dr. Acula on the other hand, if it's bottled trade him anything from Jester King or the Pumpkinator.

            • There are also 4 on the shelf at Whole Foods Park Lane right now, $13.99 each.

I'm in Houston now... but it sounds like I could probably hit up Specs or something.

If you aren't already a member I'd recommend joining the Let's Talk Texas Craft Beer group on the Facebook. People are constantly posting sightings of rare beers. If it's available in DFW you can be pretty sure the big Specs down there will have it.

Brew Dog's Tokio and Avery's Beast are all over the place right now as well and won't be for long. I'd stock up on Pumpkinator while down there, it's pretty rare and will sell out soon.

Pedernales just canned the Robert Earl Keen beer yesterday, it should also be hitting stores this weekend. It's a pilsner so I'm not too excited about it but it's bound to have some trade value out of market.

                  • Matt, I don't mind grabbing you some 180 from up here and holding it for you. I pass by Spec's or Total Wine every day depending on which way I go home. Pumkinator is essentially sold out in DFW. If it's got better availability down there, grab some and we'll work something out. Either way, I don't mind stopping. Text me if you want.

                    • So I just read that WOB is adding two more locations in DFW. One will be right across the street from the Kimbell and should be open by Christmas, the other is somewhere in Plano I think.

Lots of choices! I'll probably stick with the Saucer but the WOB and Gingerman are half the drive.

                      • Clown Shoes Pecan Pie Porter and Alaskan Imperial Red tonight. Also picked up some Stone Xocoveca and a Boulevard Bourbon Barrel Quad that I'll (try to) sit on until next year.

                        • If you see the Clown Shoes The Big, The Bad and the Unidragon it's pretty nice and a good deal too. I think the bomber I bought was $9 and it was 14% abv. It's a Russian Imperial but is only sold in Texas for now.

They had it at Hall's when I was there Saturday. I've got to get somebody by there when they open today anyways to grab this morning's offerings.

                            • Rahr's 10th anniversary beer hit the shelves officially yesterday. It's an imperial chocolate milk stout and I'm a fan. I have no idea what the ABV is but it's good, thick and boozy without the chocolate being overdone.

Their anniversary party is 11/22 btw and they aren't selling tickets at the door this year. http://rahrbrewing.com/event/10th-an...-tour-tasting/

30+ beers, Big Mike with his band, 4 food trucks and 4 hours.

I also hit the Collective Brewing Project this weekend. It's about 4 blocks away from the Rahr Brewery and I'm not sure exactly what they are planning but they had some good beer and it was cheap!

It's basically like a brew pub but without the food. They were only offering their own beers at the time and are the first place I've seen offering Crowlers (it's an Oskar Blues invention). Which is really just a big can but they assemble them to order with whatever beer you want. So you can take 64 ounces with you in a perfectly sealed container.

They just opened a a week ago so not everything is up and running but to me it was like visiting a small brewery tap room. More like the setup at Hops and Grains and Austin Beer Works. Very low key and more bar like. They have a big parking lot with room for food trucks and they plan on having other beers soon.

I decided to give it a whirl and I really dig it.
