Look on craigslist for a set of tires
Look ok craigslist/eBay/G35 forums for suspension
Rattle can or plastidip the paint

And be payment free

No shit right here. Just because you get something "newer" to you, doesn't necessarily mean it will be a better car.

I vote on fixing the old one but I am an odd ball . My daily is a 00 and I wouldn't dream of taking on a payment . I was pissed when the wife wanted to sell the explorer to get a new car . Luckily she took the new car and the payment when she left (good riddens to both) . I do all my own repairs so that keeps maintenance cost at rock bottom so it just makes sense for me to drive old cars . I also don't give a crappy if my car is dumpy (see what I did there) . I understand the lure of a new one but the price is more of a beating then the repairs to me . Plus you already have history with the car and know what you are dealing with . No brainer for my cheap ass .

My grandmother said secret to life is pay cash for everything except your house. If you can't pay cash for it. Then you must not really need it or you would figure out a way to get the cash to pay for it.

I don't have a lot compared to most guys here. But what I do have is mine. Keep what you got & drive it till something major breaks. But instead of making a car payment with a car your locked in to. Start saving now while you drive this car you love so much. Then when the shit does break. You have money saved to replace it.
