He's got a point but I think I'd still op for a manual if it's offered.

I like the crap the Mt82 got at first... personally I haven't heard of many Mt82s grenades even with some serious power. I think most of the problems people had with it was the shitty ass shifter ford put on it and the factory fluid. MGW shifter + MT82 was perfect on my car. I don't know many hundreds of power shifts I put through that thing without a hitch.

There have been several people breaking them at about 600hp.

Doesn't it cost more now to order a car with a manual? Didn't used to be like that.

The C5 corvette started that trend. Auto was standard and the manual was the option. Pretty sure the LS1 Fbodies were the same way, but the manual was a no cost option IIRC.

                  Fun factor: Manual
                  Performance: DCT

                  Its the sad truth.

It might with some, but it doesn't on the Mustang. At least not yet. The way things are going it might happen at some point.

I love manual transmissions in most anything with wheels. In April 2012, I bought a 2012 Mustang with an automatic - the first new car I've ever bought with automatic.

In 2011 , I test drove both 3.7, and 5.0 Mustangs with 6MT's - I was impressed with both. When I decided to buy, I knew I couldn't own 3 cars that my wife couldn't drive- she can't drive a manual. In my mind, buying GT with an automatic was a crime. If I had to buy an automatic- I'd get the V-6.

This is daily driver for me & I wanted to be ready for $4-$5 gas if it came. So the V-6 auto Mustang works well for me. My only regret is getting the 2.73 gearing.

But I am shocked by how few people can drive a stick nowadays. I do believe manuals will go away soon.....very sad indeed.

able to but its been 8+ years in one. Paddle shifters on a dct is so much more fun than manual.

I love manuals, but modern technology has made them obsolete for the most part.

You can program a transmission to do whatever you want it to including giving yourself manual override/gear selection. There's nothing more visceral than an old school hot rod with a wiggle stick, but there are more effective setups

I drive an 03' svt focus 6spd manual, but my wife doesn't know how to drive one. My next car will be a 5.0 with the A6. I've heard nothing but good things about them, especially with a good tune and torque converter.

as good as slushboxes have become, i still dont like them. sst/dsg on the other hand i do like... i somewhat regret not getting the MR version of my evo which features a really good DC-SST.

i'm really hoping the c7 corvette will get that 8 spd dc sequential that was rumored within the next 2 years and i'm in.
