Thanks, y'all. I try really hard to get my kiddos to understand how history affects us everyday & this really helps them "get it". I was amazed that they even wanted to talk about Syria today too!

My poor daughter is gonna get information overload. 9/11/01 turned into a major part of my life. If it had not happened, I would not be were I am today. Of course I would have wished things were different but you can not change the past.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I'm currently working thru a temp agency as a facility electrician at Love Field and I can assure you....nobody there forgot about today. There was a significantly heightened security presence throughout the airport today as well as a Ceremony in the main entrance involving DPD and TSA. That is a morning/day I will never forget.

In my earlier post I meant that people that are not from here or don't give a fuck about the U.S. care about what has happened on 9-11, the gulf war(s), Vietnam, Korea, WWI or WWII. I have no knowledge other than history about all of those and only what has affected me personally. I know that it sucks Kim, but think about it, do you break down on D-Day or Normandy or the attack on Pearl Harbor? I believe that only in the timeline we are here in our lives and touches us is what we hold to our heart.
Seeing all those people killed on our soil really had an affect on me, but the other wars that have happened didn't affect me on their anniversaries like 9-11 has.It doesn't make them any less horrific, but I know that my grandfather and F.I.L, really have their hard feelings about those other conflicts...

Oh, so it's people's mental wiring to causes them to falsely believe the government could be to blame.

I probably should have posted earlier, but the Smithsonian channel had a marathon of 9/11 programming. I saw a bunch of video footage that I don't ever remember seeing before. Unedited footage of the jumpers, some different angles/clearer shots of the planes hitting, etc.

I'm another one that won't forget that day...We were in South America doing some training. I woke up that morning and saw a little piece of paper under my door telling me to come down ASAP, but not to be in uniform. I walked down the stairs and saw video of an aircraft hit one of the towers... I dismissed it and thought it was a movie. I soon found out I was wrong. We all headed to the base we had been working out of and awaited further orders. After some time, it was decided that we needed to go back to the hotel and gather our stuff and the senior individuals were armed at that point. We got our stuff and made our way back to the base...we split into several cars and made our way back to the base. I ended up riding with a couple of officers and the whole ride back I thought we were going to be lit up. We were told before we left that we were in one of the largest networks of those assholes, and IIRC we knew who it was within hour s. Needless to say I made it back ok.

Less than three months later i was supporting missions against these guys. Supporting meaning I helped maintain helo's that took bad men to do bad things. On the lighter side, a SAS guy backed into one of our birds and didn't think shit of it...laughed about it and drove away and a Ranger from the 75th left his weapon on board after a flight. I have no idea where they got that boat, but they pt'd the shit out of that group of guys.
