I was Active Duty Army, at home on 21 days of leave. Lets just say that my leave was cut short, and I was on a plane when no one else was flying.

We were trying to get on any flight that would get us closer to home, which means that if we hadn't gotten out that night there was a chance we could have been on one of those planes. It hit me hard. The teachers all had their TVs in the classrooms tuned to news channels, and I'll never forget what happened that day for as long as I live, as it is one of the most insensitive, asinine things I have ever witnessed. The principal came over the PA system and said, "There's nothing to see folks. Turn off your TVs and go on about your day like normal. It's not a big deal." That's the day I lost the final shred of respect I had for that school's "administration."

I remember the DJs kinda jokingly saying "how could they NOT see the WT towers? As I pulled into the parking lot at school about 15 minutes later, that's when the second one hit and my heart sank. I will NEVER forget that day.
^^^^^^this^^^^^^^ i was at UTA listening to the same station (yup it was the eagle) in front of the davis bldg... I then went to the library and watched the 1st and 2nd towers fall... There was some guy running in with a duffle bag, changed into his bdu's, and hauled ass out the library. I will NEVER forget those mixed emotions...

Oh and by the way, all those muslims that used to hang out by the library promptly dissapeared. Not once did I see another muslim wear a rag on his head on campus. Go figure.

I was asleep and got a call from my grandmother asking me if I was ok. Completely groggy I said I was fine and asked why. "Because a plane hit the WTC, half asleep and slightly annoyed I said "We're thousands of miles from there, I'm ok". I then turned on the tv and watched the 2nd plane hit LIVE. I sat there shocked and glued to the tv until almost the next morning.*

I also remember the day planes started flying again. Here in San Antonio highway 281 goes right next to the airport and the planes are low as hell when they cross over. So I was on 281 right at the airport and a plane came across the highway like they have for years. It passed right over me about 100 feet up and I almost slammed on the brakes. I was almost waiting to see and explosion. That was a strange feeling.

My home away from home is on 281 and 1604 in Hollywood Park and I drive 281 back and fourth to downtown S.A., I remember my first time going up 281 and seeing them damn planes so close to the hwy, it will definitely get your attention, more like scare the shit out of you.

I distinctly remember sitting outside the evening of 9/11/01 next to the pool looking up at the sky and hearing/seeing no planes. Sat on a lounge chair and just took it in, probably never see that again in my lifetime. Complete silence.

Was doing the same when a low flying fighter jet rocketed by. Scared the shit out of me.

I was off work and my phone kept ringing. I was getting pissed because it was my day to sleep in. I finally got out of bed and checked a bunch of incoherent messages telling me to turn on the TV. Turned it on, and was looking at lower Manhattan, but it looked wrong. I had turned it on right after the second tower collapsed.

Girlfriend at the time got off work early, and we watched the news all day in my apondo, then went over to her parents house. I tried to donate blood, but the blood bank was so packed they said they wouldn't even be able to get to me until the next day. It was like no other day I've ever lived, and I think a lot of people don't think about how it didn't stop.

Right after there was the DC sniper, and the Anthrax letters, and the dumbass news telling us that saran wrap and duct tape over our windows would save us in case of a chemical weapons attack. That was around the time I stopped watching the news, and I haven't watched it since. This country took a serious downturn after 9/11, and it hasn't seemed to improve since.

I was working at Sprint PCS at the time(cell phones were just starting to get popular)in collections, and someone asked what to do if we were calling someone in the New York City area, and the manager told us that if we didn't collect to turn their phones off. I rather loudly stated that I wasn't going to be turning any phones off in that area while giving him a death stare. He didn't challenge me. I quit a week or two later. That job sucked any way.

I was in the shower and had Howard Stern on the radio when they cut to the live feed (they normally ran him on a 1 hour delay). They were talking about the first plane hitting and the building burning and such, so when I got out of the shower I turned on the TV. That was a minute or two before the second plane hit.

I ended up calling my office and to see if they had heard what was going on, and they were watching it there. I went ahead and drove in to the office but was only there for about an hour when they sent everyone home. Nobody was working anyhow, everyone was in the break-room watching TV.

Yeah, at the time I worked right on the north side of DFW (Freeport Pkwy and 635) so we constantly had planes flying over. It was really weird that day, and the days following, to see / hear none at all.

Man I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was working just outside of downtown in the Cityplace Building. I was listening to a CD on the way to work and didn't catch anything on the radio. I bought breakfast in the cafeteria and saw everybody was crowded around a TV so I went to see what was up when I first heard the news. I didn't know what to think what that day was going to be like as I got on the elevator to the 18'th floor. The whole office floor was quiet and they had wheeled in a TV to watch the news. A few people were terrified after the second plane hit because we were in the flight path for Love Field. We still got a few customer calls with people who were oblivious as to what was happening and wondering why the stock market was closed and no trading was occurring. Nobody left early that day and it was a weird drive home as traffic was eerily light. I live by Red Bird Airport and whatever they call the Naval Air Station that used to be at Mountain Creek Lake so I was used to planes flying overhead all the time. Not that afternoon and I was startled when a fighter jet flew overhead hauling ass. Ya I don't think I'll ever forget that day.

I remember it well. I was in Tulsa working downtown. Very few employees there, mostly just us contractors. One guy got a call that a small plane had hit one of the towers. When we tried to get to any news source, all sites timed out. We eventually got a TV in a conference room with cable, and watched the second plane hit. We all stood watching until a little after noon, and they sent us home. My older kids were with me and were struggling with the reality of what they were watching. They were 5 and 7. I eventually turned the tv off and just played with my kids for the rest of the day.

                      I have not forgotten.

I have not forgotten watching the Palestinian cockroaches celebrating and dancing in the streets. Up to that time, I felt some pity for them, but they flushed that down the toilet that day.

I remember that had I just gotten out of the shower and was sitting on the bed getting dressed and had good morning america on. They were showing the first tower, but didn't know for sure what happened or that it was a commercial jet, let alone terrorism... This whole time they were showing a live feed on the tower when the second plane flew in. Something that I will never forget!

Meanwhile, dumbfuck marketing rejects are busy trying to "incorporate their brand" into 9/11. Oblivious dipshits never cease to amaze me.

The problem is not those of us who lived through it forgetting. It's the fact that kids have no idea why it's important. They have little to no empathy for the victims & since they don't know any other way of life, they see no problem with our rights being trampled on.

I showed 10 minutes of live news clips in class today & we had long discussions about that day& how it changed America. Based on what other teachers heard the kids saying about history class today, we made them think. I was proud if myself because I only cried 3 times out of 6. Mother's Little Helpers helped me with that part.

I can never show the videos with the people jumping because I lose my shit & it's hard enough to cry in front if 8th graders, much less weep in front of them.

Great job. The younger generation needs to understand everything that went on and what affect it has had.
