I remember exactly where I was when I heard about it. I was driving down Cooper, listening to 102.1 (might have been 94.5 then, don't think so though), going from one school to another and they announced it on the radio. I thought, this can't be real, it must be some messed up prank on the radio.

When I got to school the whole place had a somber atmosphere. When I got into class they had wheeled a TV in and were watching the planes fly into the towers. A day none of us will ever forget

I was aboard USS Roosevelt (DDG-80), just off the coast of Jacksonville, FL...and headed north at best speed immediately after the second plane hit.

I had just pulled up to work when news of the first plane came on. I was standing in the break room watching it on TV when the second hit.

It's going to be an interesting day tomorrow. I worked in DC today and will be finishing in the morning. Then a quick job in Manhattan (SOHO) tomorrow afternoon.

I was in a hotel in Hobbs New Mexico. I signed up for the Air Force in Odessa 2 weeks later.
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

A lot of Americans have forgotten. They will get a wake up call though.

Remember watching it in the school library and watched the second plane hit live. Something I will never forget.

I was on the USS John F. Kennedy just off the coast of Mayport, headed north. Small world.

I was dead asleep and my buddy called to tell me we were being attacked, he said to turn on the T.V., I grabbed most of my guns and some ammo to head to the car and then turned on the tube, the second plane hit a few minutes later and it was like something out of a movie, the whole day seemed to last forever. I remember driving to Carrollton that night and it was eerie to come over the hill and not see any planes going or coming from DFW airport...
