It'll haunt you for awhile. I pulled a guy out of a truck a few years ago that was involved in a head on, he had a spinal detachment at the brain. Guy was UNDER his steering wheel with massive injuries. My friend, a surgeon, stabilized his head as best as possible and the guy started breathing albeit very shallow. I experienced what dead weight truly was as I and another guy removed him from the truck. Never met the man, didn't know him, but had dreams of him talking to me for a year or so telling me that I did a good job.
I witnessed a fatal car accident 12 or so years ago where Matt (Trublu03 or whatever) was in a pursuit.
That bothered me for years. I think the OP did all he could, just have to remember that.
You gotta ask yourself is me hauling butt trying to shave an extra minute or two off my commute worth losing my life over? I wouldnt let it bother you too much. The guy took the risk he lost control and paid the ultimate price. Thats just how it goes.
I've seen two people die on Dallas streets. Pretty sad and shocking.

I've watched 2 people die in my lifetime. One as a result of a car accident and the other a suicide. Both were friends of mine. Please don't be afraid to ask for help if you are having a hard time dealing with it.
Why did I click on this thread- brings back repressed memories. A ninja in a stolen car mid to late 90's headed up I45 North from Houston-passed me on the right side of the road in the grass, loses it and over corrects. He shoots directly in front of me at a 90* angle across the median and t bones a Crown Vic of elderly women. Bodies flying through the air while the whole freeway is just white smoke of people braking. The most gruesome and horrific thing I have every witnessed. Not sure of the total death count that day but I think I remember 4 at least.
A few months a ago almost the same thing. I was going down John Day Rd., a small country road, and a ford explore came flying around me. A few minutes later I round the corner to see it flip on the passenger side. A women driver making god awful sounds that I'll never forget. She was mangled up because when she lost control she hit a tree on the driver side door, which the door itself still wrapped around. The male passenger was ok for the most part, I busted out sun roof to get him out, she had to be cut out. By the time first responders got there she was unresponsive. A week later driving down that road I saw a cross on the tree that she hit.
Maroon color? If so that wasn't an explorer. It was a jeep Cherokee. She died soon after. Never came out of the coma. Completly crushed every thing on her left side. They pulled bark and splinters from her face and scull. Passenger is my IT guy. They just left the bar and he was too drunk to drive. She went off the side of the road while arguing with him and over corrected .
