News about one mother's attempt to breastfeed her son on a moped adds a new level to the debate over breastfeeding in public.

According to the Huffington Post, police in Yuzhou in China's central Henan province pulled over the unidentified woman when they saw her feeding her son while driving her bike.

Witnesses said the boy, who was about 18-months-old, was on his mother's lap as she weaved through traffic. He began crying so she lifted up her shirt and nursed him.

Police stopped her. They reportedly let her off with a warning, but threatened to confiscate her moped if she continued threatening "her life, her son's life and the lives of all other road user."

While it may sound like an unbelievable story, this Chinese mother is not the first to run into trouble for such multitasking.

A mom in Ohio was cited in 2008 for not having a license and breastfeeding while driving from Detroit to Pittsburgh. She told ABC News it was no more distracting that talking on a cell phone while driving because the baby just lays there.

Another Ohio woman was busted in 2009 for trying to breastfeed her daughter while driving her other children to school. Police said the baby's head was against the steering wheel and she was talking on a cell phone at the same time, according to the New York Times.

In that case police pointed out that they don't take issue with women breastfeeding in public, just women who put their child's safety at risk.

Experts who are pro-breastfeeding said nursing in a moving vehicle is a bad idea even as a passenger because of the risk of unnecessary injury.
