  • Has anyone had IOL or ICL surgery?

I've been told by optometrists in the past that I would not be a good candidate for Lasik or any other laser vision correction due to the severity of my nearsightedness. I have read a bit about IOL (intraocular lens implants) which are a complete lens replacement, and ICL (implantable collamer lens) which is like an implantable contact lens that just augments your natural lens without removing it.

Anyone had a procedure like this done, or known anyone who has? I'm straight up sick of glasses and contacts.

Weird. I was told the only concern for lasik was the thickness of the cornea and had nothing to do with how bad a person's vision is. Go see an Ophthalmologist.

Wifey had ICL due to having really bad vision, not enough cornea for lasik.

How bad was your vision before? Do you still need to wear glasses/contacts for certain things? How has it been in the last six weeks?

It's good times when the eye that is being worked on just kind of fades to black for a few seconds.

Mine was terrible, I have had it twice the reason for the last surgery was because the first lens detached. Nothing like going blind in one eye in a second haha. I do not they got it to better than the first lens. Vision right now is still alittle blurry but everyday it gets better,. Its been a breeze, take the steriods they give you to keep the pressure down and you are good to go.
Surgery was a little uneasy as you are awake, but other than that everything went fine.

Her eyes were bad, I believe legally blind without glasses or contacts (contacts were like a -9 or 10). The only problems she has is she has really big pupils and had halos at night, still sometimes does. She said it is well worth it, I think it has been about 3 years. One of the best thing is no recovery is needed, she could see right away. I had lasik it it took about a week or so before my vision was 20/20.

And yeah they did not tell me that they eye they were working on was going to go black for a few seconds. Scared me for a second

I was 20/200 and could see shit with out glasses. I had intra lasik done and have not had any issues since having it done over 4 yrs ago. the far sightedness was not a big problem but when I am looking at books I my eyes don't focus right away. I was told I may need to use readers later on in life.

I just don't want to spend all that money and then not see as well as I did with glasses and contacts.

I'm not talking about Lasik, I'm talking about lens augmentation/replacement.
