  • F-150 Technical Service Bulletin

The other day the fuel gauge in my wifes truck went on the fritz. She's kept an eye on it, but now it is definitely erratic.

    I found the TSB on it...TSB 13-2-8.

I called Five Star Ford service and they want to charge me $90 just to look at it, even though I have the TSB printed out and I even read it to the guy, but he kept saying there's no recall on that. I KNOW THAT, THAT'S WHY I HAVE THE DAMN TSB.

So after he tells me I will be charged $90 for them to look at it confirm what I already know I just told him I would call back.

Ford service techs how does one go about getting a TSB done?

I had the fuel pump module changed on my 11 GT when it had like 400 miles on it, but I don't know if they did that under warranty or TSB.

As I understand Ford TSBs, they only provide service techs guidance on how to diagnose and repair known problems on certain models and are not necessarily indicative of a recall or eligibilty for out-of-warranty repair/replacement.

So then it's just a guide to have them repair a known defect, but I'm still financially responsible for said repair is that correct?

If you are out of warranty then yes... Unless they will repair it as a "goodwill" repair

Unless it's under warranty. I want to say that TSB's are for certain batches for a certain build date???

The few times I took my Mach1 in for TSB-related repairs that was how the servicing dealer handled it, as a goodwill gesture.

Damn. Ok. Thanks for the info. I feel like an ass now. I didn't blow up at the poor guy, but I started to get an attitude with him...my ignorance. I will call him back and apologize.

TSB doesn't mean it's warranty. It's a common problem apparently and that specific one tells you to replace the fuel pump and charcoal canister.
