Dear god I love the car though.
They can be money pits on some things, regular prices on others. If you plan on making up to 900hp get a 96-99. Skip 2000 no matter what, and 2001-02 had abs but weaker internals.
Don't be afraid to look at 04/05's etc. They can be had around the same price.
Mustang will be a lot less to go fast and maintain... Just it's a fucking mustang that for the most part looks exactly the same as every other mustang.
I would consider a cobra a beater DD car, the viper a drive to work on Friday and cruise on a nice Saturday car.
IF you do decide to get a viper, just be warned your penis will shrink to about 1" long when fully erect.

They ride a little rough, but once you are in there I fit a lot better then I do in mustangs."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"

I also like the 69 chargers. Not sure I could see myself in one though.
Thanks. I knew a little bit about the internals for the newer gts'. But you helped me understand it a little better. I just don't know what color viper I would go with. I don't want blue with white stripes or red.
If it doesn't have headers and hiflow/no cats then you will need to install for heat control.
The rocker panels can rot out. Check them carefully, even remove them and look on the inside if you can. Factory aluminum ones are $5,000. Aftermarket fiberglass ones are $600 a pop.
In the texas heat they tend to run on the warm side. Roe makes some "cheap" fixes that really help the car stay cool on the hot 100+ degree days."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. Used Ferrari 348 or F355..."Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

Man, 45k buys a shitload of car, especially if you're looking at something older just to play with. I was thinking you were looking in the 25k range. I'd spend a lot more time researching. Be careful if you see a car that was owned by Jon Voight..

That is why I ultimately went for a viper. The maintenance parts on the car are super cheap. It's just when you upgrade/break no maintenance parts is where it gets expensive.
I keep looking at lambo's, but damn they get expensive when it's time to replace a clutch etc."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"
