Could be used to block the gps transmission from cars if it's stolen or youre running from something. Cell phones if stolen, person is running, or you kidnapped someone. And many other gps based electronics.

I can see lots of thieves wanting this as well as other criminals.

          Exactly.

This is what I was thinking. If you steal any new GM with OnStar, then you can disable the GPS and have the vehicle untrackable.

Task Force has already found one in a bait car. So if you're a career auto thief, you can put this in the car, and cops won't be able to track their own bait vehicle.

This jammer interferes with radionav satellite signals GPS units use to calculate position, but I wouldn't think it would block transponders located on a car unless they are operating on the same GPS L1 1575.42MHz frequency.

I'd expect *those* type of transponders to operate on a government-use frequency prohibited from civilian use or interference by the FCC, but that's just a guess.

Also, I'm not sure using radio jammers isn't illegal in the US.

The cell jammers are illegal in the US. The GPS jammers are perfect if you have a compnay vehicle with GPS on it so you can't be Micro Managed.

It could also be used by those who purchase Tote the Note cars with the GPS tracker on them. Once you miss a payment they come get the car but this would block the signal.

That's what I was going to say. The people that hide from Kyle must use these things.

Isn't it a felony to purposely block any radio frequency?
