  • Performance bike lifetime guarantee

So I got a pretty nice Iron Horse mountain bike from performance bike back in 09, I have only rode it ~15 times or so, I never want to drive to a trail to ride it and riding it on the street kind of sucks because of the full suspension so I'd rather be in a hybrid bike with no suspension that I can ride on the street. I was thinking about "using" the guarantee to trade the bike for another even though it's 4yrs old, has anyone ever delt with performance bikes guarantee?
    It reads like this.

    Lifetime Guarantee

We stand behind every product we sell. If an item does not meet your expectations, simply return it. We guarantee your money back for a full year. After one year, we’ll provide an exchange, repair, or store credit to ensure you have the product that meets your needs. If you’ve lost your receipt, we’ll provide a store credit at our current price.

Performance in Dallas (75 and walnut hill) is closed. I would never buy a bike from them, they are the sears of bike shops.

Check out switching gears cyclery, tell them Rodney sent you.

You know we are cool, we have had lunch twice and both times we sat next to each other and played footsie(s).

Sounds like a jig-a-boo move to me. You bought a bike four years ago and now you don't like it. If it didn't meet your expectations then, you should have took it back and got something else at that time, not wait four years later when you've taken a different trail and now it doesn't meet your expectations on said trail. Sell it on Craigslist, ebay, etc. and buy you what you need now.

Yeah I hear ya on that you racist SOB I am only using what they are advertising, I should have taken it back back then but I got lazy on it. I think it would be fair if they cut a substantial amount off the store credit, maybe they offer trade in's.

I disagree with your opinion on this. You bought a bike for a certain purpose. The bike that you bought is perfectly good for that purpose. Now that you have had a change in direction it should be someone else's financial responbility for your change? The store guarantee is being taken advantage of in this situation. I cannot believe that this is the intent of the guarantee.

I have a hybrid bike that gets ridden frequently on some nice trails in Plano. No suspension. I really like it but I have found that I need a good comfortable saddle. I went through several before I found an acceptable one.

IMO, sell the bike that you are unhappy with and go get the one that you really want......you know that one is just going to sit in the garage too. :-)

Agree. If the current bike has only been ridden 15 times in 4 years. The new bike is just gonna sit too. IMO just buy a new auto shotgun for clays.

I think I will just take it up there and talk to them to discuss my options, I don't want to be a jew jew jigaboo. What kind of saddle did you end up buying?

Mountain bike seats take a bit to get comfortable. Don't go off to Walmart and buy a big ass tractor seat. You'll look like an idiot.

How much was that bike? You should stay away from full suspension unless you're looking at 2000 plus dollar bikes otherwise it will be assembled with shit components.
