  • Driving to Charlotte, NC. Which route to take?

Google maps is showing either going through

    1. LA, MS, AL, GA, SC, NC
    or
    2. AR, TN, NC

I've been passed through Arkansas and Tennessee before and the drive was fine. I've never been through Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina.

Should I go route 2 again or experience route 1?

That's a long drive. Unless you want to see Vicksburg battlefield, I'd go north. Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia do not impress me at all.

TN sucks from Nashville to Bristol, it's worse than driving from Fort Worth to El Paso!

I've gone all the way to NYC by car so this trip won't be as bad lol.

Always take the route you haven't driven.

I disagree. Nothing is worse than driving through Arizona, New Mexico, West Texas.

After Charlotte, we're going to Atlanta on our way back home. So I guess I'll still catch that route regardless.

Will your vehicle make it over the Smokey mountains without a sweat?
I never go over the mountains, TN to NC.

I always go through Atlanta GA on my way to NC.

Im from NC and I have driven both of them numerous times. If you're doing it in one shot I would go north through LA,MS,AL,GA,SC and then NC. It's mostly 70-75 the entire way. LA and AL are some long ass states but the scenery is pretty.

Route 2 through LA, MS, ALA, GA, SC - more boring but better route in my experience. Also I found it was better to go straight through downtown Atlanta rather than take the loop.
