Suggestions on a newish car with good mpgeees

we have a 2006 Ford Five Hundred that, if driven 65 mph, can get 30-31 mpg. At 70-75 mph I can get just under 29 mpg. BUT, I wouldn't recommend them. They're known for three major problems that are not cheap to fix.

I'd assume those problems have been addressed by now with the new Taurus since you mentioned 2010+.

2012 Chevy Cruze w/ 1.4 turbo and 6-speed manual transmission. At 21,000 miles to date averaging 34.3 MPG. I get 39mpg highway on my 160 mile trip home every weekend.

I know your point 8mpg, that's why I'd like to find something that gets substantially better than the current 21mpg the Equinox gets to make it worth doing.

Tdi Jetta. I have an 06 model get an honest 40mpg avg per tank. Best I ever got was 44mpg on a trip going 75-80mph. I'm sure going the speed limit would show a good net in mpg.
