  • Nissan to Finally Launch New Titan at Detroit

Coming with a new V8 diesel.

The Nissan Titan has been around for a while. 11 years, actually. And in the auto industry, that’s easily the equivalent of two product cycles for any given model. But the current Titan’s time is up. Nissan can’t keep it going for really any longer, especially in the face of fresh competition like the all-new Ford F-15 and Chevrolet Silverado. Fortunately an answer is on the way. Autoguide reports that Nissan will debut an all-new Titan at the Detroit Auto Show next January.

Set to be a 2016 model, the next-gen Titan will not only be completely redesigned, but come powered by a 5.0-liter Cummins diesel V8. Output will be in the neighborhood of 300 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. A six-cylinder engine is also likely, but no specific details are available just yet. Nissan is intent on remaining a player in the full-size truck segment, so this next Titan will really have to shine

LOL give it time. You know that 3 days after the first one hits the floors some douche is going to find a way.

BTW, while at the tech center a couple days ago I got to see the V6 version that was slated for the Durango (and then killed). It was like seeing a chupacabra or a dodo bird.

                        • The truck pictured is a 2014.

If they don't do something to the rear end to match what the Cummins is capable of, there will be trouble. I'll have my eye on this when they come out.

That would be quite unimpressive in regards to displacement, considering the 3.0L Ram EcoDiesel output is 420 ft-lbs. Not to mention the fuel economy of the smaller diesel.

Except the difference between cummins and some mediocre italian diesel.
