Let's say she's newly single (which she is, and has 2 children which she does) but dad goes into the military instead.
Is HE a piece of shit? hell no, we'd be thanking him for his service.
9 weeks of training to provide her children a future and possibly college? Yeah she may get deployed, but she is willing to take a BULLET for you and I to have the right to sit here and judge.
A short time away from your children to provide the with a lifetime of security is a small sacrifice for the greater good.
Get off her ass Barry! LOL
Lets put the shoe on another foot (are we up to 3 now?)
What are her motives for comming in? To better herself and her kids future by giving honorable service? I would say good on her.
If it is to just get the bennies and maybe get a job where no other way would work I would be a strong MEH...
She would have to have a dependent care plan if she got deployed for her kids care. If she was in would she pull the "single mom plan"? Having to make it to daycare to get her kids leaving the rest of her shop to carry the load? Not being able to make a detachment/deployment due to kid issues? As I said before most recruiters would find easier meat unless she has and incredible ASVAB and could fill a critical billet.
I have no idea what is going on behind the breakup that is none of my affair. I am just looking at the reality of it. Hell I would have a hard time telling anyone to go in right now. Unless it is for 4 and out to get college or other training. Reserves already have to wait till 60-ish to get their retirement. Now the "think-tanks" in Washington are recommending it for active. That would chase people away in droves knowing they would have to do 20-30 years busting their ass then get another job till 60 to draw their hard earned retirement.
Sorry been watching this on the news. Not close to comming true but just the fact it has been floated to screw the military chaps my ass...

Hooolld on there little buckaroo. I'm not calling anyone a piece of shit. I just don't understand how you can just leave your children. That's all. I don't see how a man can do it either. I could not imagine leaving my son for months at a time..
I do question her mother skilz though.Last edited by SSMAN; 01-19-2011, 05:43 PM.

Granted my opinion is skewed being as I have no children or wife, but I feel women/moms are a very important part of a child's life and choosing to make money in a risky occupation such as a soldier is a very selfish way to escape everyday life.
