So I have a 1996 BMW 318i that was left at my shop 4 months ago. Kid just bought it, overheated it and cracked the head in my driveway. Pushed the car in and I said he could leave it for a day or two until he can tow it because he couldn't afford the repair.
Kid left before I got his info. Car sat for about 50 days and he came back to see if someone wanted to buy it but has no title because the dealer wanted another $80 for the title...??? I had him leave me the keys and his info and told him he needs to get the car out of here.
Well here we are a couple months latter and his number is not working (for several weeks) and I have no current address.
Car is a POS and isn't worth but a couple hundred bucks. I have people wanting the car but for a couple hundred its not worth the time and cost to get a mechanics lean on it.
So am I stuck with this thing unless I get the mechanics lean on it or is there some way to dispose of it without breaking the law? I would hate to get rid of it and the kid come back in a few months saying the car was worth thousands and demand his money.
Any ideas from the Texas car pros on here?
