  • Interviews

I have been doing interviews everyday this week - and it's painful. People are just not qualified and sometimes don't even behave right in an interview. It's not there are a lack of jobs - I have three reqs trying to fill - and it's amazing what people will put on their resume and have no actual knowledge or real life experience with the product or technology.

My son is a recent A&M grad. What do you have and where are you located?

    Thanks,

I can understand not being qualify for a job, but man how can you not know how to act? Who was on here saying someone actually texted during an interview? Was that Talisman?

On the flip side, I have had a couple chats with employers looking to hire, had a list of prereqs, and were looking to pay peanuts.

I even had one guy get pissy when I declined to come in for a sit down interview after he told me that the position was litterally less than half of what I am making.

Most of these have been phone interviews - I have heard typing right after each question - and answers read back out of a text book suspect google searching. I had one person go outside and complain it was hot - and got to hear the wind noise/car noise along with it. One person couldn't figure out the confrence bridge dial in.

People that tell you how to build a bridge instead of just answering a question.

What someone is willing to pay does not determine what my time is worth.

I've had people offer me positions 30-40K less than what I was making and then act like I was trying to win the lottery by telling them what my requirements were.

If we're not on the same page thats fine - that tells me right then an there that you don't see the value in my knowledge and experiance. Some jobs are a fit, others aren't. no need to get personal about it

                  Dave,

Send me those REQ numbers, I may have a few guys that we interviewed over the last few weeks that might be good fits for you. They are already in the system.

                        This right here.

I've been on a few interviews lately. I know what I'm worth, and this is not a negotiation. No, I won't take X, and be up for a review/raise after 90 days. No, I'm not interested in less than half of my current salary. And I really only get that kind of shit, from the handful of jobs I've considered outside of my industry. I'd much rather get that nonsense out of the way up front, so neither of us waste our time. Unfortunately, that is frowned upon.

I've been shocked and had a few lately be right up front on $ and even had me talk to the hiring mgr in a mild interview/review of the actual job vs the posted lingo without even applying. but then they were the ones hitting me up via linkedin.

I saw at least 5 people come in last week for interviews wearing ball caps, t-shirts and shorts.
