I was just down at Port Aransas, Mustang Island, Rockport a few weeks ago with wife and kids. I thought the beaches were fine. We ate in mostly so I am not much help I'm afraid, but I will say SH77 is a nice scenic drive if you go that route. Lot of little towns though which may or may not be your thing. I prefer to take the old fashion road trip and see all the things people used to see before the interstates.

Just took the family to Corpus a few weeks ago. Hung out at Padre Island National Seashore. It was the nicest of the beaches we went to. Cost like $10 for a week pass but it wasn't overly crowded and water was nice minus jellyfish coming in with the tide.

Good advice. I went in the morning with my pops at the end of May, and we were both sweating like crazy by the time we were done. I would go as early in the morning as possible. It took us 2-3 hours to walk the entire thing. If you're tall, watch your head. I promise you will end up banging it on something sooner or later.

Thanks for the responses both authentic and sarcastic.
I was trying to make it to the Jamaica and Mexico but plans got changed at the last minute. So I'm just trying to go salvage some fun out of the time I have left.

I just got back from there on Friday and go every summer for about a week. I stay in a condo on the North Padre Island, which is also a 20 min drive south of Port Aransas. This year I stuck to the island with minor trips to HEB in Flour Bluff.
On Friday, Padre Island Burger Company has any draft $2, and they have some good craft beer. No Light shit. they also have awesome burgers. Same thing for Scuttlebutt's on the island on Mondays, and they have 26 craft beer taps. There are several other bars along SPID in the island. There's also a newer place off Leeward Drive called Boat House Bar and Grill and I only went once, later at night. Around then it turns more into a bar/club than grill, and they had a dj and the younger crowd.
Pretty much all I did was hang out on the beach all day with some beer.HD Parts

You could slide up to Port O'Connor and get a bay trip in with Marty's Guide Service one of those mornings. They rock. I was tagged out in a couple of hours, and in a couple of minutes on Redfish.
ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh
