Animal rescue groups are livid about a disturbing case of a dog that was set on fire. The woman accused allegedly posted about it on Facebook.
Adrienne Martin, a 35-year-old St. Louis woman, was arrested Thursday and charged with animal cruelty and knowingly burning.
Law enforcement officials said she doused her sister-in-law's dog with gas and set him on fire. He was allegedly tethered to a heavy chain in a backyard. His face and body were severely burned.
The dog, a 3-year-old shepherd-terrier mix renamed Brownie, died two days later.
"It is just so inhumane I can`t even see straight," Stray Rescue founder Randy Grim told Fox 2 News.
Grim said posts on Martin's Facebook page led investigators to her.
On the day before Brownie was found, a post read: "I'm on killa mode..... #killdogsdotcom..... today.." The next day it was followed by, "I mean what I say and I say what I mean…. #alldogsdontgotoheaven.com."
A few days later she wrote, "MF's is killing me about this stupid dog… keep it real… you didn't take care nor like or love the MF… on the TV str8 lies… #laughingeveryday…. stop bitch.."
According to a probable cause statement, Martin initially denied any wrongdoing, but later confessed to the crime. She said her son had to be hospitalized because the dog bit him.
Grim said everyone is safer with Martin behind bars because her arrogance and evilness is a volatile combination.
