I stopped by my local Oreilly's today on the way home from getting a bearing pressed, cause my hooptie was due for an oil change. I generally prefer Castrol products but am in no way married to them.
Anywho, I went back to where the oil and filters were and grabbed my filter then gandered over the different oils. I decided on Castrol(obviously by the thread title) and went to the counter to purchase it. Here's were I should have done my due diligence.
I always get the large 5Qt bottle when doing an oil change since it's less of a hassle and a better value, generally. I didn't even notice until I got home and started to pour the oil in that Oreilly's sells their Casrtol in a 4Qt jug vs everyone else selling the 5Qt jug. This really sucks since the engine takes more than 4Qt's and by this time it was too late, I was committed. SO I pour the rest in, pissing and moaning all the while cause it was $27+ tax(I'm not ballin like most of yall) and not enough to do the job. Luckily I had some left over from the last time to make up the difference.
Here's the kicker though, to the eye it looks identical to the 5Qt jug and maybe it really is dimensionally the same, but most like myself wouldn't notice the difference. After finishing up w/ the job, I poured the old oil(4.5qts) into the jug and wouldn't ya know, it had plenty room left in it for another quart. Now I'm really disgusted.
So I look online at the Vatozone site to see if theirs is the same but lo and behold it's the 5Qt jug for $30+tax.
The moral of the story is, pay attention to what your buying when you get the stuff you would normally use, the manu or retailer may be takin ya to the bank if you don't catch it in time. 29.22/4=7.31 ea qt vs 32.45/5=6.49ea qt and does the job w/out needing leftovers plus is $.82 less expensive per qt.
For posterity Oreilly's Vatozone

If they do carry a 5Qt jug, this store didn't have the nor a place for it.
