Remember that it is not a State park so it is not maintained or gets its funding like a state park. Its said they can never put some effort into maintaining or repairing the castle. DO NOT let your kids wander around up there alone. Seriously it looks like a crack house in places and no telling who is around there when its dark. What I did like was that they were not so picky about having to place your tent on a tent pad. Its just where ever you find a spot to nail it down. Its been years since I was there and I do want to go back as it is still a lot of fun.

If there are heavy rains, get the hell out of there. In 1995 me and some friends went there to camp. It started raining hard as soon as we got settled in which was well after dark. Well, the creek rose pretty fast and soon was in the tent. We packed our shit and was headed out to leave at around 11pm just as the Sheriff drove around with a bullhorn telling people to get to high ground. We made our way to the 2nd low water crossing and water was moving swift. Against my better judgement, I drove my 66 Galaxie through it and damn near floated me off the bridge. I have never been more scared. Just 2 or 3 more cars behind us and a car with a family in it was swept in and some kids drown. It was on the news and everything. Similar thing happened to me in New Braunfels one year and that was on the news too.

Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

Only been once and it was a shithole. Lake Murray is much nicer IMO.

Family friendly, but it's not all that great. There are better places that are closer, I'm sure.

We went in June, and it was a great family day. We only checked out the areas right in front though. My toddler loved trying to catch the minnows and sitting in the mini rapids.

I've been going to Turner Falls for a long time, and think it's great - as long as you know what to expect. I took my 4 year old son there last year for the first time and he loved it. There can be rowdy groups for sure (that used to be me), but you can find campsites that are off the beaten path and you don't have to worry about them too much. There will be litter around, I always leave the campsite better then I found it. I'd say go for it, worst you can do is decide to never go back.
