Actually the aluminum camper clamps* still might be cheaper than C-clamps or C-clamp vice grips.

*A pack of six are about $30.00

Nope i'm wrong, the cheap C-clamps can be had for around $3.99 a pop.

you are missing the point entirely. a coworker said i could use his camper as long as i bring some camper shell clamps. i know c clamps will do the same job but he is doing me the favor by giving me his camper shell for the weekend, possibly forever, for free.

camper clamps spread the load out over more surface area to prevent possible cracking of the fiberglass

with that said, I have always just used 6 C clamps

See, that's the kinda bullshit that saying earlier would have helped.

                              By you saying:

You are insinuating that clamps are somehow not appropriate, and then that you wouldnt use them if it was up to you either way. I like the clamps becuse they are cheap, and very easy to take on and off. I pull my grampa campa off when I dont need it, and put it back on when I do, and it takes all of 10 mins to do.
