  • End of year tax filing CPA recommendation.

Hey guys its my first year as a self proprietary, and I needed to see if any of you trusted gentlemen can recommend me for a small business specialist accountant.

Trying to make this into a Corp. and file taxes and all that mumbo jumbo, If possible recommend in the Arlington area, or Mansfield, GP HEB or FT worth. Don't like Dallas as it will be hella expensive.

        Isn't Pattymelt an accountant?

We have a good one, but that doesn't help you much since he is out here in Midland. We made the transition from Sole Proprietor to a 1 Owner LLC a few years ago.

I have always gone to H&R Block and they seemed to do a good job, but this year the IRS had questions about a fire at my house that I claimed. H&R Block basically said "good luck" and the IRS wanted to see a document from 11 years ago. If I couldn't come up with the doc, then I would have had to pay back about $4k to the IRS. I actually found the document and beat those bitches!

That said, I was wondering if you guys think I would benefit from going to a CPA instead of doing the H&R Block thing. What kind of benefits does the CPA have over a service like H&R? My tax return should be fairly simple as I'm single, have a house and make about $60k. I had a wreck this year and was out of work for 3 months. I also use my car for my job and don't claim the mileage at work.

I use First Tax in Bedford. Wife does her taxes quarterly and they save us a ton.
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

I used to pay, but now I use Turbotax online. They really have it down. Mine are not complicated though.

After using a CPA, I have no desire to do my own taxes ever again lol. Much easier to just give them to someone else. Last year he called me and said if you don't put XXXX amount in an IRA your going to owe money.

Tons. I usually do my taxes myself. A few years back, I calculated mine myself, then went to see Jeds/Jads in Carrollton. Yes, they charged me $400, but they also got me $900 or so more on my return.

H&R block is some minimum wage monkey that took a 3 day class and is now a 'tax expert'. CPAs have been in the game for years, and know this shit like the back of their hand. They can find more deductions, etc.
