It's not letting me copy and paste but short story: Researcher got the idea after seeing a little girl with an embolism in her lungs die before they could repair the damage. He got together with others and created a drug that can be injected that would keep the blood oxygenated for several minutes to keep brain damage and other issues from coming if they can't get your lungs to work.

It's great that they figured this out. But the issue isn't really keeping the blood oxygenated, it's keeping the blood circulating to be able to transfer the oxygen to the areas that need it. That's why breaths are being taken out of cpr.
