  • Cracked Plasma screen - Any value

So I get home Friday to find that my son had thrown something and hit the TV. Appears the small crack allowed the gas to escape and the entire screen went black.
It is a Samsung 60", only 6 months old.
I have already replaced it but is there any value in just the TV. Not sure if there is someone that buys them or anyone on here that would be.

    It is pn60e530a3f

I'd leave it unplugged for a week or two to make sure theres no power then take the boards out. the boards all sell for a pretty good amount on Ebay. I bet you can get a couple hundred bucks for parts. the screen is really expensive to fix so probably best parting it out.

You can put your tv model # in ebay and just get an idea of what they go for but usually pretty decent money.

You might find somebody on craigslist who wants it for the circuit boards. Any warranty shop wouldn't need it because Samsung reimburses the shop for any warranty parts used(can't claim a non-invoiced part for a warranty repair).

My experience has been even the Mexicans that come by our shop to haul old/broken electronics down to Mexico won't buy them if the panel is broken.

          Led ftw!!!
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

^^^ Which will break even quicker when objects are thrown at them!

              this.

something went out on my parents samsung plasma but it was hard to pinpoint which board it was so you just had to buy all which would run ~$300.

just gave the tv away for free, the remote became the most valuable part of it.
