The US government isn't worried about protecting its citizens. The US government is, however, worried about its agents occupying a foreign country and killing THEIR citizens.

You are under the impression that the US government is more concerned with protecting its own. Well, it kind of is. Protecting its foreign relations that is.

Don't blame a U.S. soldier for getting nervous in a situation that has resulted in lives lost numerous times before. If I'm on a motorcycle going in the direction of a bunch of military people pointing guns at me, I'm not gonna keep riding that shit straight towards them.

I think it's hilarious he's so insecure that he's threatened by a guy who walks with a cane, can't be out in sunlight without migraines and actively avoids being around people. That shows a LOT of insecurity, even with that badge.

When I was there ROE was if someone didn't stop at a checkpoint or didn't slow approaching us, we were clear to light them up. I never did, wasn't there long enough to have that put on me but I do not blame soldiers lighting up a vehicle rolling at them. VBIED's are nothing to play with.

There is a 28 year old walking around today because I saved him from drowning in the Trinity when he was 8.

There are a couple of elderly folks still alive in Como because I got them out of a burning house.

There's a murder convict still in prison because I caught him speeding down W. Vickery in 1994.

Dude, I could go on and on with the stuff I've done over 21+ years.

It's an unfortunate situation when OUR government is more concerned with other countries citizens who are known to be hostile than it is with its own who, like yourself, and frost, have sworn to protect. He made a decision that ended two lives. Unfortunately innocent lives, however, he also made that decision believing that he was protecting even more lives.

Difference is, if I see soldiers fucking up, I call for the most harsh punishment possible with a swiftness. You tend to say "Hey.....surely we dont' know what's going on" while unions protect those fuckup cops from being fired. Shoot up 2 women delivering newspapers with over 100 rounds? Paid time off. Chainsaw through a woman's door at the wrong address? Not even an apology. Kick in a man's door while he's at work and kill his pet who is chained to an appliance? Shouldn't have had a dog inside.

You're right on this. We're given the obligation to not only protect our fellow soldiers but also the populace and have to second guess every action because if you fuck up, or some politician wants to make an example out of you, you're toast. You can't really fight back because your trial is in a military court, usually not open to the public. I remember we were told to disarm a guy holding an AK approaching us. Short story, he didn't want to take his weapon off it's sling and my NCO grabbed a hold of it. When he did, the guy grabbed the barrel and was pulling it towards his own face. Well, he cut his hand on the front sight post.

An hour later, we were still there, pulling security, while a medic arrived to make a show about bandaging his hand and letting him go on his day. How many cops would take you not only refusing to disarm, but actively fighting you to keep it and then bandaging you up, apologizing for stopping you and letting you go on your way with your weapon?
