How much different is that 6.4 after those mods. We had one for a shop truck in Iraq and it was a turd.

Well with the 310 tune my truck 578 rwhp and 1189 rwtq. So it's pretty fast for a 9k pound truck.

I'm only looking to replace it because interior is going downhill. Mechanically, it's fine. A few electrical issues, brittle plastics, and crappy leather are what's wrong with it.
What kind of miles does your suburban have? Condition? I'm looking for a late 90's 4x4 Suburban right now.

BTW, I drove a 99 F350 with the 7.3 for about a year. It had around 160k. I liked it. The power was decent, way better than my 302 Bronco. I did the O ring on the water separator because it was leaking fuel like crazy. And it had some trouble starting in the cold, but I just plugged it in at night. I know it was probably an easy fix but I was not keeping it long. It was absolutely bone stock and the mileage was in the mid teens, high teens all highway driving.. It was not 4x4. Crewcab long bed. I towed a bumper pull toy hauler, something like 30' with a full water tank with no issues.

a Cummins will do all of it and more using less fuel
Yes, yes it will. Cummins is the best, too bad they put in in a Dodge. 7.3 is the best engine installed in a fullsize SUV from the factory. I'm just looking to get some user opinions on the engine.

The Sub has 147,600. It was torn up in a hail storm back in 2002, right after I bought it. When we fixed it, the whole thing got painted, and it still looks good. It has a few dings here and there, but no major damage. Solid Indigo Blue, painted front bumber and grill with a Ranch Hand grill gaurd. Interior is where GM comes up short, the leather on the drivers seat is in horrible condition. The pass. seat is ok, but showing wear. Back seat and third row are fine. AC still works well, I'm too old to go without. Heater works well, as do the heated/power seats.

The bad- fuel gauge dosen't work, I just use the trip odometer. I think its the sending unit. The blower motor works, but only on the first three settings. I think its a relay. ALL the plastic is brittle, the console latch is broken, sunvisor on driver side no longer has the mirror, and be careful if you have to pull a door panel. Some of the door lock actuators are starting to stick on occasion.

Send me a PM if you want to see it, I don't live that far away. Even if I don't end up selling it, you can see what to look out for.

My little ol 7.3 has a few mods and gets decent mileage . I have 230 cc injectors and custom tunes my truck is not real smokey but its not castrated either.
Best bet on an Ex. is a good tuner and a cold air kit, drive it nice those damn things just push too much wind.
6.ohs have issues but they are easily fixed and can provide a long life .

My completely stock 7.3 got around 16-21 most of the time. It was a 1995 crew cab, one ton, 4x4, long bed. Only mod ever was full exhaust I think 5 inch from the turbo back. Stock 10 plys and all. 16 was pulling a trailer, with a diesel M715 back from Kansas with winter fuel. During the summer on the highway it was good for right around 20. With the size and it being a 4x4 I think that is bad ass mileage. I think you will see a difference in the fuels from summer to winter and mileage also.
                            Whos your Daddy?

Yes there is a difference in winter and summer fuels . I have 4.10 gears and alittle taller rubber my cruise rpm at 70 is 2250 as opposed to 2500 rpms. I do have a nice torque converter to so its alittle better.
