  • Anyone repair TV's?

I know we have a Media forum but I need to see if anyone on here knows someone that knows how to repair TV's. I thought Magnus did it on the side but the little twerker never got back to me.

TV is a Plasma which I have no idea if you can or not.

Not being a smart ass, but have you done any googling? I know a couple of people that were able to repair their own stuff with a little searching and some ebay parts.

Wont turn on at all, and doesn't seem to get power.

Tried calling Samsung? They have awesome customer service. I assume yours is out of warranty, but it's worth a shot. Mine died a month before the warranty was up. They sent out a tech to repair it, and gave me 2 more years on the warranty.

**Edit. That sounds like what Mine was doing. It turned out to be the main board if I remember correctly.

Another silly question but are you getting lights or anything on it? Have you verified 110v leaving the cord? Just a thought.

Checked that already. Seems like it might be the main board.

I wonder what specifically fails. It'd be nice if it were just a simple cap or resistor.

It might of been that. Trying to talk him into digging into it.

Samsungs were notorious for having bad caps on the power board, but normally they would sit there and click but not come on. If that is the problem it's an easy fix. About 3 or 4 caps and the time it takes to swap 'em.

On the flip side, we've also seen quite a few that were bad panels or main boards that were not economical to repair.
                          .
