They'd have lost their shirts in 07 just like everyone did but the banks which is why my in laws can't retire yet. Notice how the first generation to participate in SS since birth has nothing to retire on for many of them?

The banks made out good though..... Take the net value of the companies that made up the Dow index 50 yrs ago and see what it is now.... They keep the index growing by changing companies and inflation.

Heck if you have lots of storage space steel and concrete are better investments than stocks.
