No bueno. The Astons are my favorite group out there. This came across my twitter feed.
(the 95 car - far left - is the one that crashed)
Sorry if this is in bad taste, but here's onboard vid from the car behind him when it happened

That's terrible. The first vid posted is very eerie. One minute in control, and then next you're gone. Sometimes with all this safety and technology we forget just how dangerous motorsports are. I would think at that particular location in the track they might not want bump strips near a spot where you can have a perpendicular collision with a wall."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

"Simonsen's car appeared to snap loose on the damp and slick track, then immediately turned back to the left has he corrected and slid into a steel barrier."
Quoted from the Yahoo Sports article. So going by what I quoted, and what I have seen in the clips, if there was still water on the curbing, when he dropped 2 wheels on the curbing, he lost traction, started to slide, correct, and then hit a dry spot on the track and when the tires caught, he probably still had left hand correction in the wheel and the car shot to the left and into the wall.
Of course, that is just my opinion.
Also by that article, there is a tree behind the Armco where he hit and bark was missing from the tree.
Might look slow, but you can bet they were still hauling the mail around that corner. Just by looking at the damage to the car, Simonsen was more than likely running a pretty good speed.
Sucks to hear and see that happen.
