Why are so many teenagers so little?

I would say they are are bigger and taller overall. I was at a soccer tryout with my 12 year old this week and the '98 boys team (U18) ran past me during their warmup. I'm 5'10" 220lbs and I felt small compared to about 1/2 of them. My nephew is 16 and he and quite a few of his buddies are over 6' and thick as hell.

I've never had anyone correctly guess my age especially when I've got facial hair going. I get 23/24 a lot with the beard.

They look younger to me all the time. There was a 19 year old girl in one of my classes that I thought was 12, for sure. I was certain she had progeria or something after that. I feel like Billy Madison up here or something. I'm just gonna break down and buy that damn REO Speedwagon shirt. Fuck it.

Most kids are larger, but I agree with what Craig says as well. Girls are developing earlier too. And it's due to the shit people eat.

The hormone connection with girls is scientifically proven as I recall.. Meaning the hormones that are fed to cows in particular are causing girls to develop sooner. They get their period and develop breasts sooner, and breast sizes on average, are larger in more modern times.

My dad is 5'5 and my mom is 5'3. I'm doing pretty damned good just to be 5'8!

My dad's whole family was short, he's like 5'6", my mom is about the same. My dad's whole family is short.. His sister is like 4'9"! At 5'10" and some change I'm the tallest person in my immediate family. I take after my mom's dad more than anyone else, and he was about the same height.

Mayan descendants are a lot shorter than the Spanish and Portuguese that settled the area.

I almost mentioned that specifically, but yeah, the Mayans and Incas were really short.

He does look on the younger side to me.. In the face. Maybe a little more than 19 but not much.

I have to explain to people that I am a lot older than I look when I tell them that I'm a mechanic. No one wants a 17 year old working on the car they are fixing to buy.

I don't shave, which is one of my problems. Couldn't grow a beard if I wanted to.

I'm hairy as fuck now but my hair is lighter so not very noticeable, but I didn't get to the point of being able to grow a full beard until I was over 30.

29 here and most people guess I'm 21-25 when I'm at work, depending on the severity of my beard.

6'2, I weighed about 130 when was 19, about 185 now.

So you were about 19 or 20 when I met you. I never would have guessed you were a buck thirty..

I was always told I looked older than my age up until my late 20's but now, at 38, people usually say I look younger than that. I got my first "job" when I was 12, and when it was offered to me I told them I was 12 and they said they thought I was 17.. I say "job" because it was working at a kiosk in a mall in CA (Cerritos Mall for those of you familiar with SoCal) flying and selling styrofoam airplanes. It was a good gig though, I was working a good 20 hours a week making $5 an hour under the table over the summer at 12-13 years old.

My closest brother in age is 5 years older than me, and a couple of times when I went with him to High school games, his friends thought I was in their grade until I told them otherwise. Even at 18 I was almost never carded for booze. In my early 20's most people though I was around 30.

My dad is 5'8" if he is lucky, my mom is 5'1". Grandad is 5'5", grandma is 5', uncle is 5'7". I hit 5'10" and am damn glad to be there. I'm the tallest man in the family and my sister is the tallest woman at 5'6".

It's not just that my hair is light, it just flat out doesn't grow. I have never had to shave. I have maybe 5 rogue chin hairs that might reach half an inch, but nothing else. I have a shadow of a mustache that showed up when I was 16, but yeah, it never grew. I turned 27 back in march, so I don't foresee this changing.
