  • 5.2L coyote for the "new" cobras

Don't know if this info been posted yet but if a 500 hp NA cobra comes out I think I'll be buying one.

Deep-seated moles in the Ford company have supposedly spilled the beans that insist the Shelby GT500 ends with the 2014 model. Going forward, the SVT Cobra will make a triumphant return. And about that EcoBoost motor...
    2010 F-350 6.4L SRW CC 4X4

Spartan tunes, 5 inch flo-pro, 4 inch down pipe, cold side piping, AFE stage 2 CAI, EGR delete, Air Dog II

    2012 Mustang 5.0 GT Stock........for now.

If the ecoboost 4-popper is the base engine, I think Im going to have to go get one for a daily.

I thought I read the base engine is the 3.7 v-6 followed by the v-6 Ecoboost, 5.0 and then something around 5.8 n/a with 500hp, the latter being a SVT Cobra, so no more Shelby moniker.

I believe they were having issues fitting the Ecoboost v-6 in the Mustang.

according to that article, the base engine may be the v6, and we wont get EB4 at all, only Europe would, but Ford hasnt said one way or another.

I have a hard time buying the first year of ANY platform, but 500hp n/a doesn't sound too bad.

I don't think a 5.8L will meet all the regulations and shit. That's why they are getting rid of it.

Hmmm, so that would explain the rumors of the 4-pot ecoboost, which I'm assuming would be the 2.0 that's in the Fusion that I have driven and was very impressed. I could see this motor being used effectively in the new Stang. It would need a bump in performance, not much but a 300hp 2.0 Ecoboost would be nice. That would mean that the v-6 would need to be bumped. I don't see how a they would compete with similar numbers and gas mileage.

It does when the new GT will probably have around 450.

They need to get rid of the v-6 all together if they have a 2.0 ecoboost making that much power and get 35 plus mpg.

I'm sure the new GT will make that but I think the cobra will be 525-550.

I don't see how they are going to squeeze out 80+ hp out of .2 cubic inches. They have squeezed out 420hp on the current 5.0 and 430hp with CNC heads and intake on the BOSS. I was thinking 5.8 or 6.2 n/a.

Edit: I'm behind the times, the new stang has 420 and no mo BOSS.

True, I don't know either. I'm just going off what the article is saying. A 5.2L in the new cobra that can easily make 500 hp NA. But who knows until they finally hit the lots.

                            420, sucka.
