Food stamps/lonestar cards are good, the only problem is the people abusing the system. I know of a few people with very successful businesses , but are not married to the mother of their children.. The girlfriends do not work, or they work at the business off the books and collect food stamps.

Best thing is they all live in homes on the golf course.

Ive still got some food stamps from ww2 around the house here somewhere from my grandfather and grandmother. Or rations, whatever they where called.

I worked at a grocery store, there were several families that drove NNBS escalades in 2008, and were paying for food on a lone star cards and WIC.

          They were always rude.

These people were white, I wasn't expecting the lone star card to be brought up, the momma did not correct her, the only reason she didn't get the candy bar was because we don't take lone star. They drove a newer model car (2008+), and used a fleet type card that you have to put in mileage info to get the gas (which got declined for $25), and used their "last" $5 for gas. Decently dressed, hair/nails done, clean middle aged (@35-40) woman.

I'm all for people using food stamps that need them. My wife and I were on them for a few months after I got let go from a nice paying job, we got @ $165/month, and we ate as cheap as possible to make it last, no steaks, very few snack foods, until we got back on our feet. However, we re-applied when she started student teaching and was taking night classes and couldn't work, they gave us $16/month....so we started using it for junk food as our own little way to give them the finger for the miniscule amount when we really needed some help.

My wifes' idiot sister gets @ $280/month, and they blow it all in the first week buying steaks and junkfood and bullshit, and 2 weeks later are asking everyone for money cause they don't have any money for food....

heh, you make it sound like it's a minor problem.

It's one of those deals where a program has good intentions, but it is destroyed by leeches and the only people who suffer now is the average tax payer.

To fix it would offend people...etc...etc. Hell, I think you should be able to report people for abusing it on tobacco...etc..etc. Plus the store that sells it to them.

I have a cousin getting over 500 a month for food plus whatever on the cash card and her baby's daddy works for the post office and they live in a 200k home. The Atty General doesn't even want to know about all the fraud going on with that household. Already tried.

what would piss me off when I was younger (sacking groceries) and the people would come in on the weekends get cokes, chips, hot dogs and the like with food stamps and the head for the lake while my ass was working

The worst one I have seen is a family of 5 buying two carts full of groceries on a lone star card. Then all their fuck trophies walked up with toys and candy and cokes and dad whips out a stack of bills and pays for that stuff with a hundred.
Then to top it all off they were in the express lane...

That's a pretty broad assumption to make, however, I don't have a problem with someone using food stamps to buy an actual food item. I guess I'm outta touch. I take issue with situations like when these people use welfare aid cards at casinos, not buying candy bars.
