i know that a lot of trucks are running these. what are the benefits? cause i know when the treads comes off, they sure as hell make a lot large obstacle to avoid on the highway. they could really damaged a car, or pretty much take out a motorcycle if a rider hit one.

Ive heard a couple reasons to go to them, but to me there all a wash.
1. Less to check on a pre-trip, IE - 2 tires to check instead of 4
2. %3 better fuel eco
3. less rotational mass
4. less weight of trailer = more weight in cargo
this is just what ive heard from my dad/people he works with. Ive heard the negatives far outweight the positives.

The guys who haul doubles love having them on the converter dolly because it makes it easier to maneuver when hooking up.
