The findings were that a bolt that the rear flaps were mounted to snapped on final. In the data recorder they pinpointed a snapping sound that had been found on other 737's and traced it to that. They went nose down, full throttle, only a few miles from the airport.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- FBI agents took a suspect into custody from a Hong Kong flight that landed at Newark this afternoon after reports that a passenger claimed that he had "poisoned everyone on board."

United Flight 116 from Hong Kong landed around 1:45 p.m. at Newark Liberty Airport.

The suspect was removed from the plane about 20 minutes later. He was wearing a blue jacket and a hood.

An FBI spokesman says there is no indication that any passengers had actually been poisoned, and that the passenger stood up and made the statement several hours ago and that the decision was made to continue on to Newark.

The passenger was restrained by other passengers for the remainder of the flight, sources said.<<<<<<

A United Airlines spokeswoman says the crew followed procedures and the flight continued as scheduled.
