  • Detroit trial of SWAT officer

Is anyone else following this? During a dynamic entry into a home, a SWAT officer armed with an MP5 AND a shield shot and killed a 7 year old. Evidently the PD threw a flash bang in the house which set the covers the girl had on, on fire and the officer claims that the grandmother who shared the couch with the sleeping girl, rushed him (despite being dazed by the FB) and in reacting to the grandmother, he accidentally pulled the trigger. A&E was there recording the event and then 'lost' the video for a while.

Jury has been deliberating since Friday. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/148...o_.html&page=6

All bullshit. This never happens. And if it did, it was an accident and not negligence. Give him a couple of days off with pay and a piece of paper in his file, that'll teach him to fuck up!

His defense is that the grandmother, who was asleep on the couch when he flashbanged her, somehow was oriented enough to attack him, an attack no one else in the stack saw. He also claimed he didn't know there were children there. He had to step over a child's chair to get in the door, ignore the toys in the yard and so forth.
