Don't get me wrong, I like my job but I'm already at 8 hours today and I'm waiting on a truck that is gonna take me 3-4 to work. Sigh...

After 20yrs of salary exempt at my job we just got changed to salary non-exempt on June 1st. So 8-5 regular hours over 40 hours equals OT. Problem is they changed salary bands to match these changes. We all kept our current salaries but i went from being about $200 over my midpoint in the old band to $1600 over max in my new band. No more raises for me for at least the next 10 years. It really does make doing our job a bitch because 8-5 normal hours just doesn't cut it.

Ehh, sometimes I have to 50+hrs. Most of the time I stay close to my requirement of 45hrs.

I'm salary. I went from salary non-exempt to exempt last year. The increase in pay was more than enough to cover the extra money from overtime in the old position so I can't complain. I do have to work some OT now but not like before and I don't mind it that much since I can work from home. I leave at 5 or earlier every day and just finish up at home after hitting the gym and eating dinner...

Just be happy you have a steady pay check. Flag hours ( auto biz) sucks. One week may be at work for 55 hours on the clock and get paid for 20 or less. Next week may flag 50+ hours. Kinda hard to plan a budget.
