And if you're military and arrested, you're done. Doesn't matter if it was a bad arrest, if you were innocent, nothing. You're done. Security clearance? Revoked. Any hope at a good paying job that they actually do history checks? Not going to happen. Arrests should be made with the best possible evidence that a crime has been committed and there absolutely should be punishment when someone is falsely arrested that involves the department paying to have their record expunged and measures taken to go through and remove that information from online databases. Yes it'll cost a bit, but an arrest follows you for the rest of your life.
Yup and I still hold a clearance to this day. Which is one reason people may think I'm a little too careful in life, but it's a good backup to have and/or be able able obtain/maintain.
As mentioned though, background checks will screw you too.
