Damn right. Apology would not be good enough for me. Save it for your testimony when I be suing the pants off the department.

Eat your crow when you get called on your bullshit bluff. That is a sure sign of lack of integrity.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Here is what sucks in all these cop/anything government lawsuits. The taxpayer always loses.

Right/etc are violated (or at least being shown decent manners) AND the taxpayer has to pay for the court, lawsuit and settlement/payments. It's lose/lose regardless of how much the victim receives financially.

So...was she inside her domicile when the officer grabbed her? Unlawful entry anyone?

I think Mr. Officer is going to be taking it in the backside for this move. Unfortunatly we the tax payers will foot the bill for his foolish ignorance....damnit!

Rightfully so, the attitude that he displayed has no place in law enforcement, at a minimum the guy should be fired or relegated to desk duty. This is a blatant case of abuse of power, how in the world did he think that it was okay to do this, and as troubling, why didn't any other officers on the scene use a little common sense?

I think the term "common sense" is a bit of a misnomer these days

This is why the officer should have to pony up the cash himself. Take his house, car, his job. Take everything he owns and black list him from ever doing anything but asking if someone would like fries with that order.

He put her in jail for a few hours, he didn't rape her over the hood of the police car. He's got no business being an active officer without a serious attitude adjustment, but this isn't cause for completely ruining the guys life. You really do have a twisted hatred for LEO man, it's not sane thinking.

Yes, it really is. A cop had to exercise his authority by arresting and locking up an innocent woman because she dared question him. Now, her mug shot and arrest record will always be on the internet and searchable. The quality of jobs she is available for now has been significantly reduced all because he wanted to pull out his badge and demand she submit.

He wanted that job, that badge and authority? Civil rights violation, unlawful arrest and imprisonment. Claimed to have a warrant and didn't. 1983 lawsuit at the very least. His fuckup, not the taxpayers, so he should be paying directly. Take everything he has and maybe, just maybe he'll learn. Maybe the next cop who wants to decide he is Judge Dredd will pause just a second and think "I had better be enforcing the law, not my own ego, or it could cost me everything."

No, what's not sane thinking is slap him on the wrist and let him keep doing it. What's not sane thinking is the taxpayers being on the hook for his ego and power trip. THAT'S not sane thinking. Personal responsibility for his own actions? Very sane thinking.

How much is your freedom worth to you?

So what happens again when a citizen walks into someones home and handcuffs them, takes them away and locks them up in a basement for 24 hours?

Since this man has sworn to uphold the laws then I feel he should face a more severe punishment than an average Joe should.
