I think there are just about as many ghetto white people in Arlington as any other race.

I don't agree. I think a lot of long term residents feel this way because they compare it to the days before the Parks Mall when Cooper was just farm houses and a couple of businesses. It certainly isn't as nice as it used to be, but it also doesn't have a population of 100k any more. Have you been in Irving lately?

True. However several people in this thread specifically cited ethnicity as a relation without knowing the demographics. People can argue semantics all they want. I'll continue to argue statistics.

Irving is worse. Doesn't change anything about Arlington, though.

Lol @ Irving is worse. Crime is WAY down in Irving. Our office has been broken in to a few times, only once did they take anything. Outside of that, and one house in my neighborhood, I've never had any issues.

Irving is definitely worse than Arlington. Both have good and bad parts, but overall, Irving takes the win.

Lol @ "our office has only been broken onto a few times". That's not a good argument against it being ghetto, man!

After living in Desoto for 18 years (leaving in '02), it's only natural to defend the town you live in. However, once you leave the area, there's no denying it was a shit-hole. It's different being outside looking in.

Ill probably retire in Arlington. All my friends are in DFw, it's central to downtown Fort Worth and Dallas. Doesn't bother me at all. I'm exactly where I want to be. Been here 28 years this month.

I suppose this all depends in what your own definition of ghetto is. To be fair, mine is related to:

The abundance of donks, clapped out trucks with murals on the back, illegals standing around gas stations looking for work, people approaching asking for money, groups of saggy britches teens walking as slow as possible across the street in front of you, seedy bars, junkyards, dirt cheap motels, pawn shops, storefront signage in languages other than English, apartments full of spinners and drug dealers, welfare recipients, filthy toddlers running around outside with poor supervision, vehicles parked in front yards, old and musty malls that have mostly weave stores and greasy jewelry stores selling blingy grills and thick gold herring bone necklaces, Walmarts that are scary - even for Walmart, and areas with a high likelyhood that if your car broke down and you had to leave it - you'd be worried it would be stolen or stripped overnight.

                            Just my take on it.
